Mitsubishi Pajero s 2010

Mitsubishi Pajero s 2010

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Best Quality

I bought this Netbook a couple weeks ago. I've been using it almost daily.

Pros:
Full Size Island Style (keys are raised up) Keyboard and touchpad
L-O-N-G battery life, the longest of any netbook
It's upgradable to 2GB Ram
160 GB hard drive
Toshiba Exclusive "Sleep & Charge" USB port 4 your iPod, phone, etc.

Cons
The internal speaker produces low and tinty audio
the web camera is very low res

First, please don't think these new "netbooks" are simply "inexpensive laptops" - they should be bought with specific purposes. The true selling feature of netbooks is their small size and portability. However, remember that there are many compromises/sacrifices you'll have to make with a netbook as opposed to a laptop. These use a slower processor than laptops, are comprised of more inexpensive components than laptops, have smaller screens, don't come with a CD/DVD drive, etc. So make sure a netbook will be powerful enough to do what you want to do with it.

I researched and compaired every available netbook before settling on this one. I bought it to serve three functions: To transfer my Flip Videos off the Flip while on long vacations, To store my Itunes library so I can download/sync my iPod on the go, and to travel with (light & easy to carry on the plane!)so I can watch movies on the plane.

The biggest feature I liked was the powerful 6 cell battery which lasts about 9 hours (yes, in real life it lasts too, not just in "review-land"). This will last longer than any other gadget I can bring on a plane. PLEASE NOTE: The size of the laptop in the pictures in the description is deceptive: It does not show it with the battery installed! The battery "butt" sticks out the back about 3/4 of an inch, and adds to the overall weight of the machine.

I would suggest you go to Best Buy first and play around with the netbooks, paying close attention to the keyboard. Most other netbooks have really small and scrunched together kepboards with some of the keys (like the shift key) in "weird" spots on the keybord. This keyboard has all the keys where they are supposed to be. Most also have small trackpads - this one does not, it's the same size as the one on my laptop. There are special "hot zones" in the touchpad that cause things to happen, for example, if you run your finger along the top edge to the left, it's the same thing as pressing the "back" button of the internet.

Pick up the other netbooks - This one feels substantial - not cheap and flimsy like a lot of the other ones (of course, they are the less expensive ones). They keys are metal, not plastic.

I like the cover that doesn't show any fingerprints too!

All in all, this is the best netbook available -- As long as you're not going to be using the web camera for much, and plan on using headphones for any audio.

Although some other people said that they had trouble connecting this to their wireless network at home, I DID NOT. However, it's worth mentioning that the WIRELESS AND BLUETOOTH SETTINGS ARE SET TO OFF INITIALLY! YOU HAVE TO HIT FN-F8 to turn them on. Setup was a breeze and I was online in 10 min. I have a Linksys router.

Mini Cooper Cabrio

Mini Cooper Cabrio

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Get it now!

Got my NB 205 yesterday. Spent hours trying to make it access my wireless router. I gave up. A friend fixed problem and told me "driver" was not installed. Whatever it means.
I find battery too heavy and bulky. Because most of the time I will be using this computer to project power point presentations (in other word, it will need to be connected to power) i would gladly accept a battery with less time but less weight and less bulk. Anyone know if they are available?
Other than these points, great product.I am pleased.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Where To Buy Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I got my acer about two weeks. Everything is working great! The screen is at the perfect size. The old 8.9" acer was really a little too small for my liking. The keyboard is big enough even for a fast typer. This small lappy boots up fast (<30s). I really didn't expect this from a $350 netbook. Acer has also made the mouse pad bigger and the buttons are not at the side anymore which is great. My only complaint is that these buttons are hard to press (like really hard) though it doesnt make any sound when pressed. Battery life is really decent (the last of the 5800 battery ^^), could prob last one day at sch without charging. -SnBGet more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Buy Now

After weeks of research and loads of anticipation my Toshiba arrived today. I've been so excited to get my hands on this machine. It looks beautiful, however after following all the basic set up procedures and calling my local Toshiba dealer the power button refuses to function. That's it, no going further and I'm off for my 5 week journey abroad soon which is the main reason I purchased it now. I'll report back again, however it's been a real anti climax and such a disappointment. Perhaps someone has experienced the same thing or maybe I'm just missing something here, is there a function other than the simple start up button that I might have missed??? I still award this a 3 star even though it's not working because of it's fine looks.

Ok, it Sunday and a two days later I've managed to get the mini to work by pressing down on either side of the button, however it simply has been switching off and on with the slightest movement....perplexed and confused and assuming my hard drive could be the problem I popped into my local and very accommodating Toshiba dealer. Within 5 minutes they had removed the cover surrounding the on/off switch and found the problem, a piece of plastic stuck between the on/off cover and the switch. So finally creditability as been restored and I uploaded and set up my mini notebook and if I had to rate it now I'll give it 5 stars. I do believe this was a once off problem.Buy one you won't be disappointed......make sure to order a bag that accommodates the extra battery though. I'm lucky my family is in the business so my case logic is been modified to fit the battery at no extra cost.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Mitsubishi Pajero TR4

Mitsubishi Pajero TR4 Flex

This is a very nice laptop. Does more then I need it to do. Runs very fast. I got lucky and got the one with the better battery too. 8 hr life on this thing it's amazing. With my old laptop I was lucky if I got 1 hr. Like in in all the reviews of this laptop the built in mouse pad button are hard to use. I use a real mini mouse with the laptop so its not a problem for me. So for $349 I do not think you can find a better deal.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Order Now

I don't understand who gave this product the name netbook, because the internet sucks so bad that it becomes a joke to buy this...I bought this NB205/311 from Best buy the other day and got it connected with the internet and it cannot even open gmail, facebook, orkut, and many other websites...sometimes it cannot even load the homepage and sometimes it is working fine and suddenly disconnects and shows me problem with loading page, whereas the icon on the right hand bottom shows the internet connected. Now first I assumed that the problem might be with my internet connection, but all my roomates' laptops are working just perfect and in fact they are pretty happy with the internet speed..just today one of my roomates downloaded a 2 hour movie from torrents in just 1 hour. Juts for info,we recently started using cable internet and have 6 Megs speed, which according to the geeks is not so bad. Also, the most amazing thing is that my earlier laptop which has a 512 Mb RAM and a celeron processor works faster than this stupid netbook. I am planning to return this netbook and see if I can get some other one. The only reason I got this one was because of its features and thinking that Toshiba is trusted brand, but I am highly disappointed. I hate going through this return process, so I might talk to Toshiba tomorrow to see what they have to say about this..Anyways hope u guys don't face this problem..So be careful!!!

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I've had my Acer about a week now, it's everything I expected it to be. Windows XP runs well on it, the screen resolution and clarity are great, the keyboard is usable (though not as good as the hp Mini which I also own) and battery life is superb (7-8 hours).

Prior to receiving it I read many of the reviews here complaining about the touchpad and difficult to press mouse buttons. These reviews almost led me to cancel the order and look at the Asus netbook instead. Let me say that I've had no problems using the touchpad and find no issues with the mouse buttons, they're very easy to press. However, I did order a wireless notebook mouse prior to the arrival of the Acer and I switch back and forth between that and the touchpad.

I've also been able to run Ubuntu from Live CD (actually Live USB stick) and will be setting the Aspire One up to dual boot once I find the time to install Ubuntu for real on the hard drive.

I'd say the only negative regarding the machine was the question of wondering which battery size it would come with. Mine came with the 5800 mAh battery. If it's true that some come with 5800 and others with 4400 mAh batteries, then it's inexcusable on Acer's part to ship this laptop with two different batteries and not differentiate them via model number.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Decide Now

I picked up the Toshiba NB205 over the weekend. I plan to use it primarily for Gmail, Facebook, blogging, and some light web design work.

This is the first netbook that I can actually type on and actually use the trackpad. Most netbook keyboards feel so cramped that I can't type, however that's not the case here.

As soon as I got the netbook home, I created a bootable USB flash drive to install the Windows 7 RC. Toshiba has drivers for Windows 7, so I was able to get the key components installed without any trouble. The only hiccup was they don't have a Windows 7 driver for the ALPS touchpad on the NB205. This was a MAJOR PROBLEM for me because without that driver, I couldn't disable the 'tap to click' feature of the touchpad. My palms frequently brush against the touchpad as I'm typing sending the cursor all over the place, so without a driver, I wasn't going to be able to run Windows 7 RC.

Realizing that most Windows Vista drivers work in Windows 7, I searched the Toshiba site for an ALPS driver from another laptop for Windows Vista. I checked a few of their other laptops, and quickly found a driver that I was able to successfully load on Windows 7. Once installed, all of the touchpad settings became available under the Advanced tab of the Mouse control panel, and I was able to disable tap to click.

The other Windows 7 related hiccup was that whenever I booted up the NB205, my Netgear N Wireless Router (WRN2000) would reset/reboot multiple times. Eventually the wireless router would stop rebooting and everything would work, but then eventually it would start rebooting again randomly. To fix this issue, I downloaded and installed Toshiba's Windows 7 Configfree driver. Using that utility to configure my wireless settings, instead of doing it manually though Windows 7's built in feature, everything works and the router no longer reboots. I have absolutely no idea what the difference is, but I'm just happy it's working.

Those issues were Windows 7 related, so don't let them scare you. I only share my experiences in case anyone else wants to try Windows 7 and needs to know how I resolved them. Also remember that Windows 7 hasn't "officially" been released yet. I'm hopeful that since Toshiba has beta Windows 7 drivers available already for the NB205, that they'll resolve these issues with better drivers once Windows 7 is officially released.

As for the netbook itself, here's my pros and cons:

PROS
* Usable keyboard!
* Usable trackpad!
* Bright/readable display (I run it at 30% brightness without any issues)
* Descent performance for a netbook. It runs Windows 7 just fine.
* The battery lasts forever. Even with installing several apps and rebooting a few times tonight, I'm still on pace for 8 hours before needing to charge!
* Extremely lightweight.
* Bluetooth works great connected to my Blackberry for mobile broadband internet access.

CONS
* It gets warm after awhile. Not the scalding 2nd degree burn you'll get from some laptop, but still it's warm.
* It's a netbook... performance isn't as good as similarly priced laptops. That's the trade-off getting a netbook vs. a regular laptop.
* Can't play HD video from Youtube. (Although regular video is completely fine.)
* The vertical resolution of 600 pixels cuts off some larger dialog boxes that can't be resized, so you can't easily see or click on the SAVE/OK/CANCEL buttons.
* No free upgrade to Windows 7, which really isn't Toshiba's fault because Microsoft's free upgrade program requires a $499 minimum purchase. Still, if you want Windows 7 when it's officially released later this fall, you'll have to pay for it if you buy the NB205.

Overall, I'm very happy I purchased the Toshiba NB205. Hopefully I stay happy with it over time, and so far so good.

**********
UPDATE:
Turns out the issue with my wireless router rebooting wasn't caused by Windows 7 after all. Apparently it was a compatibility issue between the wireless card in the Toshiba and the Netgear router. Last week I picked up a Linksys WRT110 N Wireless router and no longer have any issues whatsoever.

I also installed the RTM version of Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit that came out last week. I don't see any major improvements in performance on the unit compared to the RC version of Windows 7, but I'm not seeing any new problems either, so that's good news.

Finally I noticed that some people are complaining about the ALPS trackpad in the NB205 not working well. I have experienced some slight hiccups or jitters in the cursor movement if the unit is under high CPU load. Although it's nothing that hinders my work. (I didn't buy a netbook for top-notch precision mousing.) Also my trackpad works fine all the way to all of its edges. No part of the trackpad is unresponsive, and scrolling works fine too. Perhaps loading the ALPS Vista driver has helped? Regardless, when I'm sitting at a desk or table, I pull out my Logitech VX Nano mouse. Even when I'm using my $2000 HP Elitebook laptop from work, I still pull out my Logitech mouse because it's better. So yes, an external mouse will work better. You might have an occassional stutter on the trackpad under heavy use, but unless you need to have 100% precision cursor control at all times, I don't see any major issues here. (My 2 cents anyways...)

I still like the unit. On a recent weekend trip out-of-state, it was awesome to pack a laptop so lightly, and have an ultra-portable unit to get Internet access in the van from the Blackberry!Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Review

I was so happy receiving this computer. I dug right into it, and was very happy...for almost a week. Then the keyboard would only work on the first 30 minutes of turning on the unit...perhaps an over-heating issue. I was on the phone with Acer for over an hour, and finally they decided it could not be fixed on my end. I could have sent it back to the Acer distributer for repair or send it back to the vendor, Amazon. I elected to send it back to Amazon and receive a replacement. However, receiving a replacement was not an option as they did not know when the item would be back in stock. I elected to accept a refund, and bought an Asus, which, for $25 more, has many more features that I wanted and feels like a sturdier machine.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Right now

At the time of this writing. I'd say this is the best netbook I've used so far.

Just understanding what you are getting. It's a stripped down laptop that offers decent performance for simple tasks like surfing on the internet, working with Microsoft office documents and a few other computer non-intensive tasks. If you are looking for something more than that, then you need to skip Netbooks and look at more full featured laptops.

What I love about the NB205 over the rest of the competition (which I have personally used or helped others set-up). Most of this is really subjective. As the overall performance of the netbooks are pretty much similar.
(+) Keyboard is full size and very, very comfortable to type on
(+) Cover although plastic also, is slighly less proned to smugs and finger prints as the glossy black on the HP/Lenovo netbooks
(+) Junk software free. The only program that was there was a 30-day trial of Norton's. Which actually offered an option to not be installed! I really like that.
(+) Really like Toshiba's utility to manage the computer's power state. Very easy to use in a very nice interface.
(+) I like the 6 cell battery flat and behind placement vs the Lenovo S10-2 which props up the laptop. This makes fitting it in a laptop bag much more flush (less thick feeling).

(-) The USB port seems a bit tight. Often difficult to plug into. Not sure if it would loosen up after more use. The first time, I even had to look while I'm plugging in. I thought I was plugging into the wrong port! I can get it in now without looking, the trick is to wiggle it to get it in there. But other's like Lenovo, I can just plug in without looking on first try.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Discount Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

Pros: Windows XP, Bright Screen, Good Keyboard for the size, Super portable, 6 cell battery lasts 7-8 hours on a full charge

Cons: the touch pad is small and somewhat hard to use. this is solved by wireless mouse

I bought this computer last week and set it up this weekend. removed the bloat ware in about 15 minutes. Loaded MS Office 2007 enterprise version, Snag it, Firefox and AVG virus protection. All this took less than an hour. I have a 15.4 lenovo with vista, 2gb of ram and Intel Dual core processors and the Acer out performs it. I have used word, excel, powerpoint and Outlook extensively over the last 4 days and as far as I can tell it runs better on the Acer Aspire. On Sunday I was working on a project and used the battery for almost 8 hours before I had to plug it in the wall. The wireless has not dropped once since the initial set up. I have used my home wireless network and a public network at Panera bread. I have big hands but there is enough room on the keyboard for me to type. Monday night I watched streaming video from NBC.COM and there were no blurs.

One irritation is ACER back up and recovery program will not create a recovery disk on an USB drive. It exclusively looks for Optical drive. I am sure there is a work around but I have not had time to look.

I am going to use this machine exclusively for traveling and my consulting project work. I bought it for my kids but I guess now they will get the big laptop.

Fiat Strada Working

Fiat Strada Working

Lowest Price Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

This is a very nice and very neat machine. At this time (July 2009)
it is clearly the most powerful Netbook I could locate. The battery life is
wonderful. They advertise 9 hour, and I think it is possible. I used mine nearly
all day from 7:30AM until 6:30PM, and still had 37% battery life left. The full
keyboard is a major plus.

It did not come with full instructions, and being an Apple Computer guy (Apple doesn't make a netbook or I would have purchased one), I found the entire setup
confusing. There was a simple set of instructions to get it going, and major books on warranty and safety, but no full instruction manual or even notice that one
existed. After, 2 days of frustration and one call to customer service, I found the instructions located deep in a folder on the hard drive. They could have at least
either printed them out, or told you where to find them on their little setup sheet. The machine came with the wireless turned off manually on the keyboard. I had to
call customer service to find out how to turn it on, and it was not easy to figure out all the triple function keys without instructions.

I had one major crash the first week I had it, and I'm not sure it was the computer's fault. I tried to erase various startup programs (it came with a lot of B.S. adds)
and during that effort, I erased the touch pad's control center. Bummer, I had to do a
complete system reinstall. But, the Toshiba customer service was great. They really worked with me to solve the problem. That is one of the best features of this machine is
Toshiba Customer Service. They are located in the Philippines, and speak English very well. They are almost as good as Apple Computer customer service.

I didn't buy the HP, because I saw several of their machines at Costco and they were poorly made. Also, to say HP has bad customer service is like telling
Custer there are just one or two indians over the hill. They are AWFUL!!!!!!! HP has the worse customer service on the planet! Never buy anthing from them
if you ever expect to have to call them. If you hate someone give them an HP computer, or anything else these bums make. Then stand back and watch the laughs.

Now that I have the Toshiba properly setup, it works great. I purchased Microsoft Office and updated Adobe Acrobat. I also installed Norton 360 and AOL: all
run with no problems. The Toshiba does not run Vista, but will run the new Windows 7 coming out later this year. The screen is very bright and the black
one looks like it's made of carbon fiber: it's also $50 cheaper than the other colors. I got the Samsung DVD portable drive Model SE-S084, and it works great.
It does use two USB ports to drive the thing, as it requires no other power source. A little hassel, but no real problem in order to eliminate power cords.

The touch pad works well (but no two finger scrolling like on a Mac), and it has many available options. The machine is a hit around my office and draws a crowd
when I pull it out.

I highly recommend this machine, at least until Apple releases a Netbook of their own: probably at the September Apple Convention where I expect to see
Steve Jobs show up and announce some new killer machines. Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Save Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I've had the Acer One 10" for about 3 weeks and just love it! The size and weight are perfect for biz travel. It handles all the software I need on it very well. Display is great. Keyboard works fine, but I do have to slow down just a tad to let my pinkies get in place. Still, the keyboard beats typing on a cell phone by a ton.

I added a USB mouse, cuz I prefer them over touch pads. Added a no-name USB CD-ROM to load software, easily found on the Net at $20. And added a $25 Zoom brand USB mini-modem as I occasionally stay in motels with no wireless. The Acer One has 3 USB ports, so these add-ons all work fine.

I've used it for video chat and video conferencing and the built-in camera and mike do just fine.

The result is an invitingly portable computer that does everything I need to do on the road for about $400 in total. A heck of a bargain, IMHO.

Low Price Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

Update August 16, 2009

I still really like this netbook and it is an almost perfect replacement to a super high-end laptop that it replaced. Now that I've been using it for nearly a month, here are some additional insights and observations:

- I like the brown color much more than I thought I would. It's really an elegant, stylish netbook.

- The laptop does get really hot. So hot, in fact, that after a few minutes, you have to place it on a pillow on your lap - it is way too hot to let set on your bare legs.

- For some strange reason, a very slight electric shock emanates from the bottom of my netbook to my bare legs. I thought it was coming through the screws but can't prove that. This continues to happen, but placing netbook on a pillow first solves this problem. This is very strange. I've never been shocked by a laptop before. It's not a huge shock, but enough to make you jump up and ask "what the..."

- this is undoubtably the best laptop keyboard I have ever used. The keys are layed out in an entirely logical, predictable way. This keyboard is fantastic.

- yes, the trackpad does have a mind of its own sometimes - but I have minimized this problem by going into the settings.

- battery life is great. I've never really used the battery up fully, but 6 hours using wireless internet continuously and it still had a fair amount of juice left. I did have the brightness set down to minimum. It could very well have 8-9 hours.

- I really wish I could have more than 2 GB RAM. I have noticed a small but annoying system slowdown with many programs open, with 2 GB RAM. On the laptop this replaced, I had 3 GB RAM and a faster front side bus and the system never slowed down. Just something to improve for the next model.

It's still a great netbook but I still give it only 4 stars.
-----------------------
This is a very good laptop. It feels solid and that it is well built, which is important. I have held and touched the Asus netbooks in stores and they are cute but don't feel as solidly built as this Toshiba.

I opted for a color model which has a better keyboard and I think, is worth it because the keyboard is lighter (easier to see the letters you're typing) and easier to press (more Mac style). I recommend additional RAM as well as turning off all system animations (e.g. screen redraw, windows open/close, hid taskbar, etc.) I haven't tested the battery life to its fullest but it does seem to drain quite slowly, which is good. And thank god Toshiba is using XP and not Vista!

I gave this item 4 stars for the following shortcomings:

Max 2 GB RAM. I used to get 3 GB RAM as a minimum on all new systems. Since 2 GB is the max, I did buy the extra module but if you are a power user, you still might find 2 GB RAM too slow for you.

160 GB hard drive is decent, but why not 250 GB? Data storage is so cheap

System does get very hot on the bottom. This could be partly due to the extra RAM, but it is too hot to rest right on my lap. This is a continuous problem - not just a one-time thing.

I agree with another owner that the left/right mouse buttons need to be moved up just a tad so they don't rest on the edge. When you are laying down using the netbook, things can get pressed accidentally (but this doesn't happen very much so it's not a big detractor)

Other than those particular items, I am very pleased with it and I would recommend it to friends. I will be using this as a replacement for a Vista laptop that has crashed beyond boot up two months in a row (I decided not to chance a third time and simply retired that laptop until the Vista replacement comes out).

Low Price Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

The Acer Aspire One with the 10.1 inch screen is an amazing little machine. I bought it as my "studying machine" for a medical board examination, with the intention of using it to take notes, review images and watch lecture videos. With its large hard drive and great screen it's been perfect for those tasks. But with its extreme portability, long battery life (I am writing this on my 8th hour of battery time), surprisingly peppy processor and nice screen, I find that I bring it everywhere and use it for everything. It's largely taken the place of desktop computers at work, my full-fledged laptop at home and even my iPhone for on-the-go surfing.

Of course, the same comments could apply to many other netbooks in this class, and in truth, there may not be a tremendous amount which separates one machine from the other -- but I do think that Acer has hit a sweet spot in terms of price and feature-mix with this machine.

There's one caveat which prevents me from giving this machine 5 stars: The mouse button is incredibly stiff. This was the first thing I noticed when I took the machine out of the box, and it hasn't stopped annoying me. Luckily the trackpad software allows you to tap the pad for both left and right clicking, which is what I do most of the time now, because pressing the physical button could really give someone a repetitive stress injury. Otherwise it's an amazing little machine.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Save Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

Pros:
long battery life
attractive slim metallic design of chasis and keyboard
attractive lid (I tried the brown version) not prone to fingerprints
island keyboard very comfortable for typing
compact size

Cons:
horrible Alps trackpad or driver
speaker so weak it's useless
screen bazel is too wide, looks like glued carton and IS glued carton !!!
battery protrudes horizontally on the back (that's not too bad though)
bottom gets unusually warm for an Intel Atom processor even at idle
10" screen makes text appear too tiny - increasing the DPI to 110% helps
webcamera is low quality - grainy and colors significantly off towards bluish
some will find that the white and blue lids look too plastic and cheap, I really like the brown version the best

When I unpacked it, I almost took the bazel off with the stickers. Why make such a cool overall design and then slap a wide carton bazel on it???? What happened to the 'more energy efficient' Atom ? My guess is that either the fan doesn't cool well since they wanted to keep the noise down or there is some heating going on with the RAM since exactly that side of the netbok gets warm.

The deal braker for me was the Alps trackpad. Turns out bigger is NOT always better LOL and I can't understand how neither Laptop magazine nor any of the reviews here noticed that. If you Google "NB205 trackpad problems" you will find a whole thread on a laptop forum about the trackpad. Even at maximum sensitivity, 0.25" of the edges do not respond at all, it's like the actual pad is smaller than the size etched on the chasis. The scrolling works only if you increase the thickness of the scroll strip. The momentum function, which is my favorite with Synaptics rackpads, doesn't work the same way with Alps and is practically useless so I turned it off. The mouse cursor stutters unexplicably all the time or all of sudden doesn't respond to the trackpad. If you plan on using the netbook a lot, you will need an usb mouse...

I am returning the 10" Toshiba and keeping my 11.6" Gateway netbook which is superior in every aspect except the battery life (5 hours for Gateway, 9 hours for Toshiba). The 11.6" display makes a huge difference how much you can view on the screen at a comfortable font size. Surprisingly the bottom of Toshiba, which is an Intel Atom system, gets equally warm to the Gateway, which is an AMD Athlon system, so there is no winner in that aspect. It's not going to toast your lap but I'd rather have both netbooks run cooler. I recommend the Gateway since it runs at the same price, has bigger screen and handles graphics better than the usual Atom systems like Toshiba. And the smaller Synaptics trackpad of Gateway is light years ahead of Toshiba's Mac-like pad in terms of how comfortable and effective it is. Fiat Palio Weekend Trekking 1.8

Fiat Palio Weekend Trekking 1.8

Lowest Price Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

I have had this computer about 3 weeks and it is everything I had hoped for and more at an unbelievable price.

It works great and actually does run on a charge for 5 to 6 hours without any attempt to minimize power usage.

Though the Aspire is exceedingly small, the keyboard works well with a nice touch and close enough to full size that at least I don't have any real problem typing and going back and forth with a regular size keyboard. The screen is sharp and easy to read. The 1040x600 screen is a pain but quite usable for most applications though you can't very easily have multiple windows open at the same time.

The laptop is no speed demon but quite adequate for basic computer operations. It is very well tuned for XP and boots up quickly. You can put it to sleep and wake it up in a few seconds between uses with very little battery drain and not even both rebooting.

If you get one, be sure to get the fan utility. It's free and solves the noisy fan problem. Also, turn off the power saving mode for the wireless adapter so it doesn't go into sloooow motion when running off the battery. It probably only costs you about 5 minutes of battery life and will keep you from tearing your hair out. Both tweaks are well documented on the web if you look around.

Other than that, get rid of all the crummy software and demo versions and you have a great little laptop for traveling. I didn't see the need for ripping it completely apart to add an extra 1/2 gig. It runs fine without it though I am sure it would speed it up a bit.

Yes, it picks up finger prints like crazy but who cares. If you consider your laptop a fashion accessory, get an Apple for 5 times the price. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Porsche Panamera

Cheap Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

The Toshiba NB205 has lots going for it... Unfortunately, its many pluses are undermined by two huge shortcomings--durability and Toshiba customer service. The spacebar on my NB205 started sticking after a little over 30 days of light use. That's when I discovered that the NB205 comes with a "limited" warranty that doesn't cover shipping to their repair center. It's also when I discovered that Toshiba apparently doesn't train their customer service people--it took over two hours on the phone for them to give me the right instructions for sending the computer in for repairs and they never told me on the phone that I would be responsible for some of the cost. I only learned this when I received their email that required me to re-enter all the information already given on the phone. When I escalated the issue to the Customer Service manager all she did was repeat their policy over and over--she refused to offer me anything for the inconvenience I'd suffered over the past few hours while her team fumbled through my case. What's the deal Toshiba? Is your netbook so unreliable that you won't stand behind it fully for at least a reasonable break-in period of 90 days?Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Order Now

In less than 2 weeks after I got it, the screen went dark. I called the tech support in Texas and they told me I need to ship the whole unit back to them for 7 to 10 days repair. Since this is the only computer I have to do my work, I asked for any alternative way to help me to solve the problem. Obviously the answer is no. Now, I have two choices. One is to find a local repair store to fix the problem myself. The other one is to find a way to first backup my hard drive, erase all info in hard drive, and then send it back to them.

Buying Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

We purchased two of these laptops - both have the same issues: serious trackpad lag, jumping, stalling, etc. We're using them with external mice, but if that won't be the case with you, I highly suggest you reconsider purchasing this laptop. Otherwise, it's a great laptop. I gave it a one star because this issue is unforgivable. Toshiba is aware of the issue but hasn't issued any kind of fix. Here's the link to Toshiba's forum where it's discussed:

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Buy Now

I have had this little machine for almost 2 weeks now. I really like it. It took me about 3 days before I got brave enough to pop off all of the keycaps and rearrange them for the dvorak instead of qwerty layout.
I never bothered with the XP garbage that came with it. I immediately installed Fedora 10 from a USB thumb drive. I ordered it on Feb 17 and was lucky enough to get one with the 6 cell 5800mh battery. (Lasts more than 6 hrs under normal use on battery power. I have not bothered to time it since making some power related optimizations)
The 10 inch display is high quality. I am really hoping that somebody comes out with 1024x768 or better resolution in the same form factor though. I like the keyboard and think it is about as small as you can get and still do proper touch typing. (One of the best things about it is that it does not come with a crippled right shift key like many other netbooks) The atom 270 is not a bad processor but the Intel chipset that supports it is apparently pretty wasteful.
I could not wait.... But if this is a taste of what's to come around the next corner when ARM-based systems become available in the same form factor I can't wait!
In the meantime this is about as portable as you can get and still have a usable keyboard. They struck a great balance with this little netbook.
Ditto to what one of the other reviewers said about the touchpad buttons being ridiculously hard to push... I am still getting used to that quirk... (But I would still get the same system if I had it to do over again.)

Buy Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

purchased a toshiba 205 from amazon, once again amazon gave me prompt 3 days shipping at no cost. right out of the box, this machine gets an A+ from me. the WIFI was inactive by default but thanx to other's who posted their comments about this product, it took me less than 5 minits to be up an running with everything. Great bright backlit LCD screen and minimal 3rd party junk. i bought the 2GB extra RAM but have not even replaced it yet because its running so smoothly with the original 1GB RAM. slim design and a huge battery life, this netbook is a winner in every aspect. please do not buy this product to replace a laptop because that is not what this machine is meant to do. however, it comes close to doing everything that a laptop might provide to you. you could buy an external DVD drive but the price tag goes up and it defeats that purpose of owning a compact, versatile, portable machine. plays .mkv files with VLC just fine. Overall i'd recommend this product to anyone looking for a nice portable netbook with included features like webcam, bluetooth and WiFi. bought the original toshiba neoprene cover for $ 14.99 at amazon and extra 2 GB RAM for $ 26.99. money well spent on the extras. hope my experience with this product helps others. Mini Chilli Cooper

Mini Chilli Cooper

I bought an Acer 8.9" and loved it.When this 10" came out I ordered it within days of it's release and have had it over 3 weeks now and it's perfect for me.
Pros: bright screen, long battery life, wireless seems better than the 8.9, not as much gap between the screen and body as in the 8.9, has XP my favorite of all time windows, boots pretty fast, sturdy build, easy to update hard-drive and memory and mine is very very quiet.
Cons: Top shows fingerprints, touch pad buttons are awkward, card reader won't read compact flash.
Buy yourself a little laptop wireless mouse as the touch pad is very tiny and surf away into the night. I use MagicDisk to create virtual cd drives and Nero to create disk images and have installed Office 2007 with no problems. Overall, I don't need any more features or power then this little machine gives me. Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Purchase Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

I just helped a friend who was not computer savy to set her new Toshiba 10" netbook w/9 hour battery up.
Within 1 hour I was so frustrated (I am a savy user) I called Toshiba and was on line over 30 minutes with a revolving 3 part technical service message about what to do to get the wireless to work. Nothing worked and I NEVER EVER could get to a real human being.
I just want to say that Dell computers has always had a REAL human being for customer service. Frankly I would NEVER buy a Toshiba over a Dell now..when you need technical support you need a human not some push one..now did that work if not push 2 over and over and over.

Order Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

Toshiba NB205-N310/BN - Great little computer.
The brown/bronze case is stylish and classy. The 6 cell, 9 hour battery extends about 3/4" beyond the case and is VERY useful for holding this small computer. I replaced the 1MB of RAM with 2MB and installed Office 2007 Small Office Edition. The computer boots fast and is a pleasure to use. I was unnecessarily concerned about the ability of this computer to quickly handle my 87MB Excel file that includes imbedded images. Runs PowerPoint and Outlook almost as quickly as my desktop.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Immediately

Like many, I got it to replace my Acer 8.9 which I bought a month before they announced they were coming out with the 10.1 inch! No problem though, the 8.9 will be going off to college with my son. I absolutely loved the 8.9, but thought it could be a tad bigger. Naturally, I HAD to have the 10.1 when it came out. Ordered it Thursday 2/26 and received it this morning (Monday) and haven't been off it yet! And good news -YAY- I got the extended battery! Didn't expect that at all, but was happy to get the bonus! All in all, I am very pleased! But then I knew I would be!Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Where To Buy Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

This computer is a disappointment to me. I recommend you test-drive one in a computer store before you spend the money. The keyboard is too small for my rather small hands. And the screen is so small that header bars cut my viewing area down to an unacceptable level. And third (why this is a two-star and not a three-star), my computer does a very strange thing -- I will be typing a sentence or a web address, and the cursor will change positions -- so that the end half of what I'm typing will end up in a totally different location than the first part. I can't figure this out, but it does it often enough that I check absolutely every line that I type. I bought this as a second computer, so I'm not doing a lot of word processing on it or anything like that, but it's not even performing well for the small tasks I'd like to use it for (managing my budget, surfing the web, watching the occasional Hulu video). I should have anted up the bucks and bought a macbook pro! Overkill for my needs, perhaps, but at least I'd have a usable tool.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life This instant

Poor performance. Had to wait for one or two second for an action on browser. Usually this should not happen on a new computer. Also the click button for the mouse is not as good as the other laptops. need to push very hard. I bought this netbook based on its high rate of the review. I have to say that I am disappointed and regret that I bought it.

Toyota Corolla GLi

Toyota Corolla GLi

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Top Quality

I do computer support and wanted a quick booting netbook that would be light weight. I ready just about every review for this netbook that I could find on the Internet. Most all were positive...A few were not kind, probably because of Acer's reputation in the early 90s.

This is a quality product and I am completley satisfied. My netbook does boast the 6-cell battery and boots in 24 seconds flat (NOTE: I upgraded the RAM from 1 -2 GB [...]) The screen is cristal clear, the mouse is tough but I am getting used to it. Very very please with my purchase. Get one!Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life

I bought this mini netbook for my daughter who is going to college in the fall. I had planned on buying her a Toshiba Satellite laptop because I own one and is very happy with it. But it is quite heavy even at 5 lbs plus the batteries (I have 2 since they don't last very long), the adapter, and the mouse, to be lugging around campus. Since these netbooks are all the rage, I checked them out and I found the Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 fits her needs but the biggest advantage is the portability. She'll surely be carrying textbooks and this netbook is so thin and small that it could even fit into a small tote bag. The battery life is extra long - she's used it for more than 9 hours without recharging. It has extra USB ports she uses to charge her MP3 player and her cell phone. The keys are the same size as a standard laptop and not cramped like the other netbooks. The screen is clear and colors vibrant.

The only thing that is lacking is the speakers, which the bigger Toshibas are excellent for, but one can't really expect that in a small computer like this. But if you have excellent earphones, even the good bud earphones, the sound quality is really good. Since netbooks don't come with CD-rom drives, installing programs from CDs is not possible unless it's copied to an USB drive. You can also purchase a portable disk drive and attach it to the netbook. Some people complained about the battery sticking out in the back but it's so negligible that my daughter doesn't mind it at all. We also did not have any problem logging on to our wireless network. I would definitely recommend this netbook as a best buy.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life Review

I have been researching the brand for a good 3 weeks before I made my decision. I wanted the Red one but just couldn't wait so I got the Blue which became available on the site on Thursday Morning... Ordered it around 3pm and it was here Friday at lunch!... Talk about speedy service (Nevada to Michigan)

Took all of 2 min to unwrap it, stick the battery in and power it up...
Then 2min later I was on the internet...
Charged the battery for 1hr and then used it for a total of 7hrs after that on the Power Saving Mode... was amazed that it still had 25% left...

Saturday morning I was looking around for some updates etc... and I found out that Microsoft has the Beta version of the Win 7 out so I downloaded that and roughly 25min later I was back online with the new operating system... talk about smooth installation.

I surfed the web all day Saturday watched a movie through the laptop on an external monitor and still managed to squeeze a mighty 8hrs out of the battery (5800mAh)
The build quality is amazing, I am already in love with the new Windows 7 and it runs super on this computer... typical vista idles at around 500-600Mb and this one is around 250-300Mb of memory usage... so even with the new higher end graphics it still works like a charm.

Well it's Monday morning and I can say I have had it for a little less then 3 days and I am in love with the thing. Its mobile, light, fast, charges quick, has an amazing screen just right if you ask me (8.9" was too small) boots in under 30sec... And wakes up from standby in about 3sec... Hibernate takes around 10sec... other then that thumbs up for ACER and providing us with one of the most amazing little machines on the market today!...

Recommend it to anyone interested in a small notebook for quick web surfing or mobile watching or even video chat with your friends from around the world... it works and it makes sense at $350.

Thank you Acer... and thank you Amazon for the awesome service.

Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life

The Acer one works fine. I got it for my wife. It seems stable. Easy to use WiFi. I bought the Targus DVD player/CD-RW to play movies. But after a lot of upgrading of various software from Microsoft, I realize that the MS media player version installed could not decrypt regular DVD's. I purchased one from [...] as suggested by Microsoft, and it allowed MS medial player to work perfectly with DVD movies. I gave it 4 stars as i never give out 5 stars as a general policy unless it blows me away

Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Review

Of all the netbooks this is the one my parents picked for me. I love it and I never have to carry around the plug anymore with the 9 hour battery life. My parents love the hard drive protection as I really move around with my laptop and am not always easy on it. It is great and I got it in pink.Get more detail about Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life.

I do not know much about computers even though I now own a desk top computer, a notebook computer, and a netbook computer. The one easiest to use is this netbook by Acer with its 10 inch screen. Not only is it easy to use it is so portable. I am working on my doctorate and now I have a computer that can truly help me earn that degree. I did also get the bigger battery and that certainly is going to help alot. This computer will come in handy when I have to spend some time on and at my residencies. Acer has built a netbook that is all it is cracked up to be. I am impressed and I would recommend this 10 inch Acer to any student, any teacher, and anyone who needs portability and accessibilty. Two thumbs up for this computer. Thanks, Acer!!!! Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life.
